The mission of the BFM is to provide our community’s residents [and the surrounding Beckley area] with an improved, broad, and diverse selection of certified, quality grown produce, in addition to other locally, handcrafted arts & crafts. Local farmers and gardeners are being encouraged to participate and sell their produce. Additionally, the BFM seeks to promote community spirit by fostering social interaction among the community’s residents and local vendors; to enhance the quality of life by providing a recurring forum for youth and consumers to receive health education; to learn the benefits of quality organic and/or locally grown food products complemented by healthy eating habits; to provide leadership and employment training to the local youth and adults; and finally to preserve and sustain the community heritage and history centered around the former Beaver Elementary School.
